VES is an italian rock band active between 2006 and 2011. Originally formed by bassist Mauro Lallo and singer/songwriter Fabrizio Clima, the duo asks Alberto Rizzo Schettino to join in as keyboardist and co-producer. Alberto had recently opened his own music studio in Florence and the band started using it is a base for producing and recording their music.
After some demos released in 2007 under the band name 'Brain File', the band assumes a solid line-up and starts working on a pre-release EP. In 2009 the band attracts the attention of a local indie label, distributed under Audioglobe, and starts working on an official debut album. The buzz goes around Tuscany and Florence that an indie band had managed to get a record deal with no dirty tricks, no shortcuts, just hard work. People start to gather around at VES live concerts and the band starts creating a number of fans in the local indie scene.
During the production of the record Fabrizio Clima parts ways from the band and the members starts looking for a new singer. After months of search it is Yaser Ramadan who joins the band and continues recording the vocal parts for the nearly-finished EP.
In September 2010 the band releases the EP 'Sogni e Verità', featuring 6 original songs and produced entirely by the band, since in the meantime the original label had closed shop partly due to the economic recession that Italy was facing in those years.
With a distinct sound that goes from the heavier rock to the more traditional italian pop, combining strong choruses to moodier piano and synthesizer arrangements, the band starts gigging around Tuscany to present the album. After some months, tensions arise in the band and lead Alberto Rizzo Schettino to leave. The band continues to look for a replacement but then all the band members decide it's time to simply move on and stop fixing something that isn't working anymore.
Fairly known in the Italian indie music scene, VES is a perfect example of how complex and sometimes overwhelming the dynamics in a band can be, often leading to train-wrecks that have nothing to do with the quality of the music itself.
5 years later Alberto Rizzo Schettino decides VES music is still worth getting to an audience and works on a free revised mix and master for VES song (and debut single) 'Causa Effetto'.
